Overview

TryShadowing, operated by Groowing Co., Ltd ("we", "us"), helps you practice English by shadowing YouTube videos. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account information: if you sign in with Google, we receive your email, name and profile picture. If you sign in by email code, we receive your email address.

Learning data: your practice progress, streak, XP, favorites and pronunciation scores.

Recordings: when you practice, your voice is recorded so you can listen back. Recordings are stored only in your browser (IndexedDB) on your device — they are not uploaded to our servers. Video/webcam recording, cloud sync, and public sharing are not currently offered.

Technical data: basic device, browser and log information needed to operate and secure the service.

Recordings (your voice)

Recording is optional and under your control. Your voice may constitute sensitive personal data; please only record content you are comfortable with, and do not record other people without their consent.

Recordings stay on your device, in this browser, and are not uploaded, shared, or accessible to us. Clearing your browser data or switching browser/device removes access to them.

You can delete any recording at any time from “My Videos”.

We may introduce optional cloud sync and sharing in the future; if we do, we will update this policy before those features process your recordings.

How we use your information

To provide the service: build lessons, score pronunciation, save and sync your progress.

To improve the product and keep it secure.

For analytics and advertising — only if you consent via the cookie banner.

Cookies & tracking

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your session; these are required for the service to work.

Analytics and advertising cookies are optional and off by default. You control them through the cookie banner and can change your choice at any time.

Third parties

Supabase (database, authentication), Google (sign-in), and YouTube (video playback — embedded videos are subject to Google's privacy policy). Note: recordings are not sent to any third party — they remain in your browser.

If enabled with your consent, analytics and advertising providers may process limited data.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention & your rights

You can delete individual recordings from “My Videos” at any time; recordings are stored locally on your device.

You can sign out at any time, which clears data stored locally on that device.

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile page (“Danger zone” → “Delete account”). You can also export your data there first.

You may also request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us at support@tryshadowing.com.

Children

TryShadowing is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are under that age, please use TryShadowing with a parent or guardian. Voice recordings stay on your device and are not collected by us.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
