Back in my day, if you wanted to stop working without your boss knowing,
0:03
you'd take advantage of salary arbitrage
0:05
and outsource your job to a developer in China.
0:08
But earlier this week,
0:09
Anthropic made this type of white-collar fraud a whole lot easier with the release
0:13
of computer use,
0:14
a way for Claude to autonomously control your entire computer with a single prompt.
0:18
It can open apps, schedule jobs, prepare reports,
0:21
and even flirt with your work spouse all on your behalf.
0:23
And here's the crazy part,
0:25
you don't even have to be at your computer to use it
0:27
because you can prompt it directly from your phone.
0:29
>> Something very familiar about all this.
0:31
And it'll never get mad at you like
0:33
when you hand your dad the wrong screwdriver.
0:35
It's only available on Mac OS right now,
0:37
but I was able to beat up a homeless JavaScript developer
0:39
and steal his MacBook
0:40
so we could test it out.
0:41
In today's video, we'll take a look at everything that's possible with computer use
0:45
to find out if it's worth the hype
0:46
or if it's just another way to make us cannon fodder in a war
0:49
we never signed up for.
0:50
It is March 26th, 2026 and you're watching The Code Report.
0:54
If you haven't been paying attention, you may have missed that Dario,
0:57
the CEO of Anthropic and Mario's greedy childhood rival,
1:01
has been making the rounds with his favorite activity,
1:03
yelling fire in a crowded theater.
1:05
According to Dario, 50% of all entry-level lawyers, consultants,
1:09
and finance professionals will be completely wiped out within the next 1 to 5
1:13
years.
1:13
And it's not just Dario trying to make that reality.
1:16
As you may remember, last month Snake Oil Sam and OpenAI acquired OpenClaw,
1:20
the original AI personal assistant
1:22
that was originally named ClaudeBot before receiving a cease
1:25
and desist letter that was hand-delivered from Wario himself. we know exactly why Anthropic
1:30
wanted to kill OpenClaw.
1:32
But how do these tools compare to each other?
1:33
In a way, it's kind of like Android versus iOS 2.0.
1:37
OpenClaw is free and open source, runs locally, and is model agnostic.
1:42
Computer use is paid, closed source, only works on Mac OS,
1:46
and is coupled to Claude models.
1:48
But just like Android, OpenClaw's openness comes with some tradeoffs.
1:51
Palo Alto Networks warned it quote presents a dangerous combination of access to private
1:57
data,
1:57
exposure to untrusted content, and the ability to communicate externally while retaining memory.
2:03
But keep in mind,
2:04
this is the same Palo Alto Networks
2:06
that got in trouble for dressing actual real-life women up
2:09
as risque lampshades to promote a happy hour in Vegas a few years back.
2:12
So maybe take that with a grain of salt.
2:14
With that being said,
2:15
one of OpenClaw's own maintainers did caution
2:18
that if you can't understand how to run a command line,
2:20
the project may be too dangerous for you to use safely.
2:23
So for you React devs out there,
2:25
you may want to check out computer use
2:26
because it just works without any setup
2:28
and takes a permission-first approach,
2:30
asking before accessing new apps and only touching the folders you explicitly allow.
2:35
So before this homeless guy wakes up, let's test it out.
2:38
YouTube doesn't really put food on my family anymore.
2:40
So I need to work four
2:41
or five other full-time six-figure programming jobs just to make ends meet.
2:45
And here's how Claude computer use helps me defraud my employers.
2:48
First, I use it to write
2:49
and then email cover letters to a bunch of potential employers.
2:52
Once they offer me a testicle interview,
2:54
I again spin up Claude computer use in the background to listen to the
2:57
conversation and instantly implement any leet code trash they try to throw at me.
3:02
In my opinion, this isn't cheating,
3:03
it's just a distributed cognition layer in a separate browser tab.
3:07
Once hired, I can then sync up Claude to my calendar.
3:09
As you can see here,
3:10
we have a daily stand-up meeting scheduled for Monday.
3:13
The Claude will automatically open my calendar
3:15
and click on the Zoom link where I can attend the meeting
3:17
and listen to whatever my boss might be yapping about.
3:20
And it can even run my local AI voice model on the fly to
3:23
participate in the meeting.
3:24
>> Hi Jeff, we need you to like implement a distributed system
3:27
that never goes down,
3:29
scales infinitely, and costs zero dollars.
3:31
And we like need it by Friday.
3:33
Hi Karen, you are absolutely correct.
3:35
Initializing infinite scale zero budget distributed system now.
3:39
Kim bobulating, pontificating, schlepping, transmuting.
3:42
Thank you, Jeff.
3:43
You are an incredible human being.
3:46
>> After the meeting's over, Claude will then start writing some code.
3:49
It only takes Claude about 5 minutes to write this code,
3:51
but I then have it schedule a pull request at 4:30 p.m. on Friday
3:55
to simulate human productivity.
3:56
And then finally, I have Claude open the browser
3:58
and log into my bank account,
4:00
verify that my paycheck was deposited, and then transfer it to Monero.
4:03
For better or worse, giving an LLM unrestricted access to the internet changes everything,
4:08
which is why you need to know about SerpApi, the sponsor of today's video.
4:12
Most large language models can't access live web data.
4:15
So if you're building an AI app that needs fresh, real-time information,
4:19
it'll probably just hallucinate and gaslight your users.
4:22
SerpApi fixes this by giving your AI access to over 100 search engines like
4:27
Google Search,
4:28
Maps, YouTube, and Amazon, all returning clean,
4:31
structured JSON with real-time results and locations.
4:34
You can integrate it with a single HTTP request
4:37
or use their libraries for Python
4:39
and JavaScript and more superior programming languages.
4:42
And it also handles captures automatically,
4:44
so your app will always have access to the fresh data it needs.
4:47
Companies like Nvidia, Shopify, and many others all use SerpApi.
4:52
And you can try it out for free today with the link below.
4:55
This has been The Code Report.
4:56
Thanks for watching and I will see you in the next one.
