your strengths and weaknesses.

Answer this question wrong and you won't get the job.

To help you answer the question, "What are your strengths and weaknesses?"

with confidence, I will teach you three things in this lesson.

Number one, I will reveal the two reasons why the hiring manager will ask

you this tough question.

If you know why the question is being asked,

you can give a great answer.

Number two, I will

then go over to my teaching board

and reveal the seven best strengths

and five safest weaknesses for all job roles.

And then finally, number three, I will give you two brilliant,

top-scoring answers to the question, "What are your strengths and weaknesses?"

in a real job interview,

and also give you the scripted answers

so you can write them down

and practice.

To begin with, let me reveal the two reasons why the hiring manager is

going to ask you this difficult question.

Take notes.

Reason number one is

because they want to establish in the interview whether your strengths match the job

role and the job description.

If they do, your chances of getting hired will increase significantly.

Make sure you read the job description before your interview

so you know the strengths they are looking for from the ideal candidate.

And reason number two why they will ask you the question,

"What are your strengths and weaknesses?"

is because they want to assess honesty and self-awareness.

Do not say you don't have any weaknesses.

We all have weaknesses and knowing what they are is a strength.

Also, do not say your biggest weakness is that you are a perfectionist.

I recommend you give a safe weakness

and also tell the hiring manager what you are doing

or have been doing to improve.

In the next section of this lesson,

I will go over to the training board

and tell you what the best strengths

and safest weaknesses are for all job interviews.

Here we go.

Best strength number one for job interviews is a brilliant one.

Please write this down.

That is to say to the hiring manager that you are highly disciplined.

You can be relied upon to complete all of your work on time

and to the required standard.

Strength number two is to tell the hiring manager

that you are highly responsive in your work.

You tend to complete more work than the average person.

Strength number three is to say that you are results driven.

You always set yourself goals to achieve

that align with the company's goals

and objectives.

The next strength is to say that you are a responsible problem solver.

You are the type of person who takes ownership of problems whenever they occur

to achieve a successful outcome.

Strength number five is my preferred strength for job interviews.

Please write this down.

That is to tell the hiring manager that you are commercially aware.

This is a brilliant strength.

If you are commercially aware,

it means you understand in basic terms how a business operates.

They are paying you a salary

and you have a duty to give them a brilliant return.

Strength number six is to tell the hiring manager you are a collaborator.

Another brilliant strength.

The majority of candidates tell the hiring manager they are a really good team

player,

but the word collaborator puts you on the same level as the hiring manager.

If you are a collaborator,

you work closely with your coworkers

and other departments to help the company achieve success.

Strength number seven is to tell the hiring manager you are adaptable.

This means you respond well to change

and you are also flexible

and adaptable in your job description,

which will give the company a higher return on your salary.

That is now the seven best strengths to use in a job interview complete.

Let me now tell you what the five safest weaknesses are for all job

interviews.

The first one is struggling to say no to people.

This means you sometimes overcommit.

Tell the hiring manager your biggest weakness is you struggle to say no to

people,

which means you tend to take on too many responsibilities.

However, you are learning to assess your capacity for additional work before saying yes

to ensure high work standards are always maintained.

That is safe weakness number one.

Safe weakness number two is delegating.

You can tell the hiring manager your biggest weakness is you struggle to delegate

tasks to other people

because you prefer to do things yourself.

However, you understand that failing to delegate properly is not conducive to effective teamwork.

Safest weakness number three is a really good one.

And that is public speaking.

You can say to the hiring manager,

"My biggest weakness is I don't yet have much experience of giving talks to

large groups of people.

However, this is a skill I would like to develop.

So if there are any opportunities in this role for me to give talks

or presentations to my team,

I would like to try."

Safest weakness number four is finding it difficult to let go of projects.

You can tell the hiring manager,

"Your biggest weakness is you struggle to let go of projects.

You keep checking them over

because you want them to be done to a very high standard.

However, you are learning to complete tasks and projects,

let them go so you can quickly move on to the next one."

And safest weakness number five is actually my biggest weakness.

Can you guess what it is?

Let me tell you, this is such a powerful weakness for all job interviews.

And that is impatience.

I am a very impatient person.

I get lots of work completed.

However, I have to understand

that not everyone works at the same pace

as I do.

However, I am learning to improve my persuasion

and negotiation skills to help other people improve their work output.
